Stain Block PS
Invisible penetrating stain blocking masonry sealer for POROUS SURFACES
Application Guide
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before use on a job, thoroughly test this product
in an inconspicuous area to assure performance and appearance. Use
only in well ventilated areas.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
All surfaces to be treated must be clean and free from dirt, moss,
mildew, laitance, efflorescence, and any other contaminate that may
interfere with the penetration or reaction of Stain Block PS masonry
sealer to the applied surface. Remove all dirt, wax, oil, paint or
sealers with appropriate cleaner, chemical stripper or abrasive blasting.
If muriatic acid has been used the surface must be flushed with clean
water and neutralized with a pH neutralizer. After cleaning, allow
surface to dry 24 hours prior to sealer application. Allow new concrete
to cure for at least 14 days before application of sealer. Protect
greenery from over spray.
APPLICATION:
Stain Block PS masonry sealer can be applied with a sponge, brush,
roller, or most types of spray equipment. On dense surfaces one coat
is all that is required to seal, protect the surface. Additional coats
will give more protection and higher gloss. If a second coat is desired,
apply before the first coat is. For small areas, a pump-up garden
sprayer is convenient. For large commercial installations an airless
spray system is recommended. Do not apply Stain Block PS masonry sealer
during wet weather or when surface temperature exceeds 90°F. Application
to a damp surface or incompletely cured concrete may cause a hazy
appearance or loss of adhesion. Air and surface temperature should
be between 50° and 90°F for 24 hours following application.
Additional gloss and protection are available with added applications.
After each coat perform “water penetration test” (see
below).
Brush ................................... synthetic bristle brush.
Roller ............................ "1/4" nap lambs wool
roller.
Airless sprayer tip size ................... 0.013" - 0.015”
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Over application and excess sealer should not be allowed to pool
or puddle. Wipe up any pools that are still standing after 5 minutes.
WATER PENETRATION TEST:
Drop a small amount of water on the sealed surface. If water penetration
occurs or if water does not bead up on the surface, the application
additional sealer is required.
MAINTENANCE:
Little maintenance is required except for sweeping the surface
of dirt and wiping up spills soon after occurrence. Perform “Water
Test" once a year. If test fails, reapply Stain Block PS masonry
sealer .
