Efflorescence Remover

Removes chalky white deposits from concrete, bricks, and pavers

Application Guide

CAUTION: Do not mix this product with bleach, trisodium phosphate, solvents, ammonia or other cleaners. Before use on a job, thoroughly test this product on a sample to assure performance and appearance. Use only in well ventilated areas.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Prior to use, protect all adjacent surfaces including plants, trees, grasses, shrubs, surrounding buildings, glass, windows, metal and painted surfaces from over spray. In high pedestrian areas, traffic should be diverted by using a barrier or warning signs. Beware of wind drifts and over spray. Water flush living plants immediately upon contact.

APPLICATION:

Efflorescence Remover is ready to use and does not require any dilution or mixing. This product should be applied when surface and air temperatures are 40° F (4°C) or above. If freezing has occurred, allow the masonry to thaw completely before application. Dampen surface with water prior to applying Efflorescence Remover and apply with an acid resistant (stainless steel or plastic) low pressure (25 psi or less) sprayer, 100% plastic hand mister or acid resistant brush. A plastic Hudson type garden sprayer is one suggestion. Hold nozzle no further than 4" from surface to minimize over spray from over atomization. Once the Efflorescence Remover contacts the efflorescence, foaming will occur. Foam only appears when efflorescence is present. Allow the product to work for 5 minutes or until all foaming action stops. Continue to apply remover until foam no longer appears after application. The cleaning process may require several applications and scrubbing with a stiff plastic brush. Liberally rinse application and surrounding areas with water. To insure complete neutralization of any residual acid, do a finial cleaning with a 1 to 1 solution of GST's Pro-Grade Cleaner.

Efflorescence may return in 6 months to a year due to deeply imbedded soluble salts that may not, as yet, come to the surface. Multiple cleanings over time may be required until all salts are removed. To minimize the return of the efflorescence and to protect the surface from moisture, mildew, water damage, atmospheric pollutants, oil and grease, it is recommend that the newly restored surface be sealed with one of GST International's contractor grade sealers.

Cleaned surface should dry for a minimum of 24 hours before the application of a sealer.
